    What Makes Consumer Perception of Online Review Helpfulness: Synthesizing the Past to Guide Future Research

    A growing body of academic research has aimed to investigate the helpfulness of online customer reviews (OCRs) given their prevalence and the need to better understand their appraisal mechanisms. However, past studies have applied varied methods and reported conflicting findings. This study aims to improve the understanding of the contributors to OCR helpfulness by synthesizing past studies on the topic. Based on a systematic literature review, a summary of the precursors to OCR helpfulness is provided. We decipher both the consistent and conflicting results and discuss the possible explanations for these mixed findings. By summarizing past studies, the review also points out possible directions for future research

However, conflicting findings have been widely reported on the effect of MR usage in past studies. By synthesizing extant research on the topic, this literature review explicated the reported mechanism of how MR affect business performance and deciphered the causes of contradicting results reported in the extant literature, aiming at offering an agenda for future research. As a result, the study facilitates a more complete understanding on the state-of-art in MR research, which presents the key issues in current and emerging literature and offers a useful reference for the future advance in this field

    How does Nomophobia Exert Impact on Life Satisfaction? Exploring the Mediating Effect of Psychological Wellbeing and Academic Performance

    Several studies have highlighted the adverse consequences of information system (IS) overuse. To expand the knowledge on this heated topic, this paper aims among the first to explore the association between nomophobia, a manifestation of smartphone excessive use, and life satisfaction mediated by psychological wellbeing, as well as academic performance. On the other hand, this paper also targets the reverse procedure, namely if life satisfaction mediated by both psychological wellbeing and academic performance prompts nomophobia. To empirically test the established model, a big-scale systematic random sampling over 10 thousand responses is plan to implement. The survey questionnaire collected demographic information and actual grade-point average (GPAs), as well as responses to scales including the nomophobia, psychological wellbeing (consisted of perceived stress, depression, and loneliness), and life satisfaction

    How Do Customers Respond to Robotic Service? A Scenario-Based Study from the Perspective of Uncertainty Reduction Theory

    Confronted with an increasing popularization and advancement of applying artificial intelligence in robotic technology, practitioners in the service sector have been increasingly deploying service robots in their operations. Motivated by a paucity of knowledge on how consumers would respond to the robotic service, this study establishes on the uncertainty reduction theory to advance a research model that seeks to unveil how both customer trait and service characteristic affect customers\u27 revisit intention to robotic service via perceived risk. Based on a scenario-based experiment with 190 responses in the hotel reception service context, our results reveal that perceived risk partially mediates the relationship between personal innovativeness and service revisit intention, so does between service heterogeneity and revisit intention. Furthermore, the service context, i.e., whether the prior service experience satisfies the customer, can moderate the relationship between personal innovativeness (service heterogeneity) and perceived risk.     Transmission electron microscopy analysis of some transition metal compounds for energy storage and conversion

    This work was preliminarily supported by the National Key Research Program of China (2016YFA0202604), the Natural Science Foundation of China (21476271), NSFC-RGC (21461162003) and Natural Science Foundation (2014KTSCX004 and 2014A030308012) of Guangdong Province, China.Recently, transition metal compounds (TMCs) have been employed as high-performance electrode materials for lithium ion batteries (LIBs) and supercapacitors (SCs) owing to their high specific capacities, high electrical conductivity, and high chemical and thermal stability. While the characterization of electrochemical properties of TMC anodes is well developed, new challenges arise in understanding the structure-property relationships. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) is a powerful tool for studying microstructural characteristics. With TEM and related techniques, fundamental understanding of how the microstructures affect the properties of the TMC nanostructured anodes can be improved. In this article, the application of TEM in characterization of some typical TMC anode materials optimized through structural engineering, elemental doping, surface modification, defect-control engineering, morphological control, etc. is reviewed. Emphasis is given on analyzing the microstructures, including surface structures, various defects, local chemical compositions and valence states of transition metals, aimed at illustrating a structure-property relationship. The contribution and future development of the TEM techniques to elucidation of the electrochemical properties of the TMC anodes are highlighted.PostprintPeer reviewe

    A quantum system control method based on enhanced reinforcement learning

    Traditional quantum system control methods often face different constraints, and are easy to cause both leakage and stochastic control errors under the condition of limited resources. Reinforcement learning has been proved as an efficient way to complete the quantum system control task. To learn a satisfactory control strategy under the condition of limited resources, a quantum system control method based on enhanced reinforcement learning (QSC-ERL) is proposed. The states and actions in reinforcement learning are mapped to quantum states and control operations in quantum systems. By using new enhanced neural networks, reinforcement learning can quickly achieve the maximization of long-term cumulative rewards, and a quantum state can be evolved accurately from an initial state to a target state. According to the number of candidate unitary operations, the three-switch control is used for simulation experiments. Compared with other methods, the QSC-ERL achieves close to 1 fidelity learning control of quantum systems, and takes fewer episodes to quantum state evolution under the condition of limited resources.Comment: 10 pages, 3 figure

    Information curation function (ICF) is a function that online review platforms implement to facilitate users’ review reading process given a sheer volume of reviews pertaining to a brand. Based on both fluency and information overload theories, this research attempts to unravel the role of ICF in alleviating information overload and facilitating consumers’ decision making process. Specifically, this study strives to quantify the impact of ICF use on users’ brand selection and satisfaction with selection through an integrated model that explores the effect of both external environmental cues and internal metacognitive cues. The study is expected to not only inform practitioners the usefulness of ICF, but also inspire them to seek solutions to optimize consumers’ decision making
